Jos 3:5 And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the LORD will do wonders among you. Jos 3:6 And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
Jos 3:7 And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.

The Ark of the Covenant Also Represents Christ
The Ark represents Christ in so many ways. We could do a separate post for each of the contents of the Ark. We can see the Ark first in the time of Moses and the tabernacle and it’s contents, including the Ark, we made as a pattern of the real deal in Heaven. The Ark continued on with Israel with Joshua and went with the Israelites into Cannon or the Promise Land. The Ark was with King David and Solomon. It was one of the most valued possession of Israel. This Ark was taken into battle and represented the presence of God.
- On Top was the Mercy Seat
- Also on Top were two Cherubs facing each other and the Glory of God was visible over the Mercy Seat
- Inside was a Jar of Manna (This Manna didn’t spoil as the Manna always did if it was kept til the next day.
- The Tablets of Stone with The 10 Commandments Etched in the Stone by the finger of God.
- Aaron’s Rod that Budded
All of the Contents of the Ark represents Jesus Christ
Heb 9:4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
Heb 9:5 And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly.
The bread of Life or the Word of God. Manna Nourishment for the body, spiritual food for the human spirit.
Aaron’s Rod that Budded
A lifeless Dead Piece of Wood that Budded with New Life. This Represents and is an indicator of the Resurrection from the dead. Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. His lifeless body again taking on life.
The Tablets of Stone
Representing also God’s Word, His Commands. These represent morality and what is deemed by God as the right way for man to live. Jesus did not do away with these commands, but clarified and fulfilled them. He is the Only Man that ever fulfilled these commandments from birth until death.
The Mercy Seat
The Ark had only the type or was a copy of the Mercy Seat in Heaven. When an sacrificial offering was made in the Old Covenant, the blood was sprinkled on the Mercy Seat. Jesus took His Own Blood and entered into the Holy of Holies in Heaven and sprinkled His Own Blood, that He shed on the cross, on the Mercy Seat in Heaven becoming our High Priest, Advocate and Intercessor Forever
Heb 9:11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Heb 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
